The Microsoft Surface tablets have been immensely popular among Windows fans. Although the first gen model wasn’t exactly the best, Microsoft was quick to learn from its mistakes and rectify them accordingly with subsequent variants.

However, these tablets have been strangely missing from the Indian markets. Since the program was launched in October 2012, not one Surface tablet has made its way to India.

According to a new report, that’s all set to change as Microsoft is said to be planning on releasing the Surface tablets in India starting February 2016. It is said that the company will bring last year’s Surface Pro 3 as well as the yet to be launched Surface Pro 4.

Microsoft is expected to take the wraps off the Surface Pro 4 at a dedicated event today, while the company will also unveil some new high-end Lumia smartphones at the same event

It’s not known if Microsoft will also bring the standard Surface models to the country. It is said that these devices will be sold via official Microsoft retail channels in the region including Microsoft Priority Resellers.

These stores also sell other Windows products from companies like Dell, HP and the likes. It is said that Microsoft is looking to release 2-in-1 PCs from third party manufacturers in these outlets as well, so customers will have a wide array of devices to choose from, although we expect Surface devices to be highlighted and get increased demo time for walk-in customers. It’s not clear at this point if e-commerce retailers will sell the tablets as well.

The company released the Surface 3 tablet in May this year with what many would consider an impressive hardware specs sheet and a hard-to-beat design.
